The mayor coordinated local business owners, residents, and people from different city departments to volunteer and helped the business to improve store security, included installing a security camera monitor. (Tthe store owner once considered closing the store after multiple robberies in recent months.) "We're hopeful, and thankful for all the help and not being discouraged," Dharam Jain, owner of the convenience store for twelve years said. "This is an example of residents and the City of Malden working together to help…and that we mean business when it comes to crime," Mayor Christenson said. On Monday evening there will be monthly Public Safety Awareness meeting at Emerson School to address latest crime trends and to foster better public safety in the neighborhoods.
